- All parts of the tung tree contain glycosides and phytotoxins that have caused poisoning in humans. While there is no confirmed evidence of toxicity to dogs, caution is warranted.

- Contact with the leaves can lead to dermatitis in humans, so it may also pose a risk of skin irritation to dogs.
