Risks

- The entire desert rose contains a toxic sap that is released when the plant is chewed or bruised. In Africa, arrows are dipped in the sap to make them poisonous.
- Ingesting any parts of this plant can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, and hypersalivation in dogs. In extreme cases, it may potentially cause cardiac problems.
- The sap from the desert rose is a skin irritant that can cause blistering and inflammation on the skin of dogs.
