- Clivia produces toxins like lycorine, clivacetine, and clividine. All parts of the plant are toxic, with the berries and bulbs being the most dangerous.
- Ingesting clivia can cause vomiting, bloody diarrhea, dizziness, and stomach cramps in dogs. Severe poisoning may result in a rapid heart rate, paralysis, and seizures.
