- Catalpa pods are the seeds pods of the Catalpa tree (also known as the Indian Bean Tree). While the leaves and roots are poisonous to dogs, the catalpa pods' toxicity is unconfirmed. However, there's likely some level of toxicity in catalpa pods as they can cause gastrointestinal distress in puppies when ingested.
