- Black calla contains insoluble calcium oxalates, which can irritate a dog's mouth when ingested. These compounds are present in the leaves, flowers, fruits, sap, roots, and stems of the plant.
- Consuming black calla can result in hypersalivation, difficulty swallowing, and swelling of the mouth, lips, and tongue.
