- Sowbread contains terpenoid saponins that can lead to poisoning in dogs if eaten. The toxins are highly concentrated in the tubers and roots of the plant.
- Dogs that ingest sowbread may show clinical symptoms of poisoning such as vomiting, diarrhea, and hypersalivation. Severe toxicity can induce heart arrhythmia and seizures.
