- The ASPCA has deemed the ornamental sweet potato vine nontoxic to dogs. However, while the leaves, stems, and tubers are safe, the seeds contain LSD-like compounds.
- Ingesting the seeds of the ornamental sweet potato vine can induce hallucinogenic effects in dogs. Other symptoms may include diarrhea, stomach upset, nausea, excessive urination, and, in severe cases, seizures.
