Risks
- The leaves and stems of maiden pink contain toxic triterpenoid saponins, which can cause gastric distress when ingested. This may result in vomiting, diarrhea, and a bloated stomach.
- Common clinical signs of maiden pink poisoning include anemia, inappetence, restlessness, weakness, and fainting. In rare cases, severe reactions like coma may occur.
- Exposure to this plant can also cause skin irritation and itchiness in dogs.
