Risks
- All parts of the lantana, including unripe berries and flowers, are toxic to dogs. They produce pentacyclic triterpenoids. In small amounts, these can trigger digestive upset, while excessive consumption can lead to liver damage and photosensitivity.
- Within 24 hours of lantana ingestion, symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea may occur. Late veterinary intervention can lead to more severe clinical signs, including bloody stools, jaundice, and paralysis.
