- Some parts of the Japanese anemone, including its bark, seeds, and leaves, contain the toxin protoanemonin. Ingesting this plant can cause dogs to experience hemorrhagic gastritis, shock, and convulsions.
- Coming into contact with the sap of the Japanese anemone can result in painful blisters and skin irritation in dogs.
