  • Flame lily is extremely toxic to dogs. The plant contains colchicine, an alkaloid that can cause poisoning in humans and dogs. Ingesting any part of the flame lily can cause numbness of the lips, tongue, and throat, a rapid heart rate nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. In severe cases, flame lily poisoning can result in respiratory depression, seizure, or death.
