Risks
- Eucalyptus contains toxic agents such as eucalyptus oil, eucalyptol, and cyanogenic glycoside. These compounds are present in the bark and leaves of the plant, making them poisonous to dogs.
- Ingesting eucalyptus can upset a dog's stomach, leading to diarrhea, vomiting, and lack of appetite. Neurological problems like depression, seizures, and confusion may also occur if too much of the plant is consumed.
- Coming into contact with eucalyptus oil can irritate a dog's skin.
