- The leaves and stems of the emerald ripple peperomia contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause irritation and swelling in the mouth, throat, and digestive tract of dogs if consumed. Its roots and flowers are considered less toxic, but it would be best to keep this plant out of reach of your dog.
- Symptoms may include drooling, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, pawing at the mouth, and swelling of the mouth and throat. In worst cases, it can lead to respiratory distress or death.
