Risks
- The Chinese yew is one of the most poisonous yew tree varieties. Ingesting even small amounts of its bark, leaves, or seeds can be deadly to dogs.
- The toxic compound taxine impacts the cardiovascular system and becomes more concentrated in the winter months.
- Dogs that consume any part of the yew may show symptoms such as difficulty breathing, convulsions, nausea, seizures, vomiting, tremors, and diarrhea. Without immediate treatment, these symptoms can lead to acute heart failure.
