- Although the blackjack pine is classified as non-toxic to dogs, it has a toxic principle called isocupressic acid, which can cause abortion in cattle. The toxic substance can also cause poisoning in sheep, goat, and bison. It's not clear if it has the same effect on pregnant dogs.
