- Although rosehip seed oil can be applied directly to the skin, it's recommended to dilute it first with a carrier oil using a 1:1 ratio. You can also use rosehip seed oil that's formulated for pets.
- For small dogs, add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of diluted rosehip seed oil to the dog food. Medium-sized dogs can have 1/2 to 1 teaspoon and large dogs can have 1-2 teaspoons of rosehip oil.
- Apply 1-3 drops of diluted rosehip seed oil directly to new or old scars and minor wounds. To use it as a conditioner, add a few drops on your palms, rub them together, and stroke the dog's coat. A few drops of this oil can also be added on dog shampoos.
- For aromatherapy using a diffuser:
- For small dogs, dilute 1 drop of rosehip seed essential oil to 50 drops of a carrier oil.
- For medium to large dogs, the ratio is 2-3 drops of rosehip seed essential oil for every 50 drops of carrier oil.
- Run the diffuser intermittently in a well-ventilated area for 10 minutes.
