Risks
- The string of pearls contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids, making the plant toxic to dogs. Ingesting it can cause diarrhea, hypersalivation, vomiting, and nausea. In severe cases, liver failure may occur.
- The sap of the string of pearls can act as a skin irritant, inducing inflammation, itching, pain, and rashes on dogs when touched.
